MARVIN "BUD" ALTHOFF

Marvin Lee Althoff, age 64, died March 16, 2026 in his home in Canton Mo.
Marvin was born in Hannibal, Mo., May 27, 1961 the son of Marie Patterson Althoff and Marvin H. Althoff. He was united in marriage to Karin Thernell in 1981, to that union was born a daughter and a son.
Marvin grew up on his family's “Pampered Pork Farm” in Monticello, Mo. He attended Highland High School and joined the United States Army in 1977. Basic training was in Fort Knox, after basic training he was deployed to Wiesbaden Germany. During his time in Germany he enjoyed attending open-air rock concerts, sightseeing and the many delicious foods the Country had to offer. It was also the time when he met the mother of his children, although they divorced they later remained friends.
Shortly after returning home he joined the Army Reserve in Quincy, Ill. and retired from there as an SFC/E-7 United States Army Drill Instructor.
He worked for several years on the family farm, later as a mechanic at Grant’s Auto, and Friedhoff’s Auto Repair. In recent years he worked as a die maker at Titan International in Quincy, Ill.
Marvin claimed himself a “ jack of all trades and a master of none” and was always ready to help a friend especially when it came to mechanic work. 
He enjoyed spending time with his grandkids and attending family gatherings. 
He is survived by his children Lukas F. Althoff, LaGrange Mo., daughter Kristina Althoff-Davis, Excello, Mo.; grandchildren: Lia and Ruby Althoff, LaGrange, Mo.: brother & sisters: twin Rosie Davis, Monticello, Mo., Kathey Snow (Robert) Quincy, Ill., William Althoff (Maria) Quincy, Ill., Eva Ellison, Spring, Tx.; ex-wife Karin Althoff, LaGrange Mo.; his mother: Marie Althoff, Monticello, Mo., and many nieces, nephews and cousins.
He was preceded in death by his father, Marvin Herman Althoff and nephew Joe Kelly.
Funeral services will be held Saturday, March 21, 2026 at noon at Arnold's Funeral Home in Canton, Missouri, with Mark Pegler officiating.
Inurnment with Military Honors by Otto Bruner Post #578 will be in Forest Grove Cemetery at Canton, Mo.
Visitation will be held Saturday, March 21, 2026 from 10 a.m. until the time of services at Arnold's Funeral Home in Canton.
