ETTA MARGUERITE HELFRICH

Etta Marguerite (Rete) Bartz Helfrich, 90, of Ewing, Mo., died November 6, 2018 at Blessing Hospital in Quincy, IL.

Etta was one of fifteen children and was born December 7, 1927 in Washington, IA to Charles Nick and Etta May Doran Bartz. She was married to Albert Helfrich and he passed away February 19, 1969 and had been a companion of Edgar R. (Whistle) Davis for 45 years until his death on December 27, 2015.

She was a loving mother and grandmother and enjoyed flowers, gardening, canning, crosswords puzzles, watching TV and card playing. When she lived on the farm she enjoyed taking long walks. She took great pride in having family gatherings, cooking and visiting with family and friends.

Survivors include two daughters, Mary Jo Austin of Lewistown, MO and Diana (Annie) (Mark Miller) Helfrich of Palmyra, MO; grandchildren, Glen Brumbaugh of Hannibal, MO, Rayetta (Daniel) Sharpe of Ewing, MO, Dawn (Aaron) Hayden of Jacksonville, IL, Paul Hatfield of Kirksville, MO, James W. (Janet) Hatfield of Kirksville, MO, John C. (Carol) Mayfield of Quincy, IL, Phillip C. Mayfield of Quincy, IL; great grandchildren, Dustin (Crystal King) Goodwin of La Grange, MO, Chelsea Cramer of Ewing, MO, Dillon Cramer of La Grange, MO, Josh (Laura) Crandall of La Belle, MO, Cheyenne Jacobson, of Keokuk, IA, Dalton Jacobson of Jacksonville, IL, Ryan Sharpe and Ava Sharpe of Ewing, MO, P.J. Hatfield of Kirksville, MO, Izaiah Hatfield of Kirksville, MO, Arianna Hatfield of Kirksville, MO and Tabitha Brumbaugh of Canton and several great great grandchildren; two brothers, John Bartz of Taylor, MO, and Clarence Bartz of Maywood, MO, two sisters, Dorothy Waters of Quincy, IL, and Janie (Billy Joe) Smith of Maywood, MO.

She was preceded in death by her parents, husband Albert Helfrich companion Whistle Davis, daughter Sherry Lynn Mayfield, granddaughter Gail Crandall, great grandson Dallas Goodwin, brothers, Charles, Bill, Bob and Gene Bartz, and sisters Virginia Kaylor, Mary Weikert, Evelyn Henson, Helen Sly, Donna Miller and Darlene Bartz.

Graveside services and burial were held November 10, 2018 at the Lewistown Cemetery in Lewistown, MO with Rev. Dewayne Larenson officiating. Visitation was held prior to services at the Ball-Davis Funeral Home in Ewing, MO. Pallbearers: Dustin Goodwin, Dillon Cramer, Dalton Jacobson, Ryan Sharpe, Josh Crandall and Wes Allensworth. Honorary Pallbearers: Daniel Sharpe, Paul Hatfield, James Hatfield, Aaron Hayden, Dennis Waters, and Mark Miller

The family suggests memorials be made to the Ewing Nutrition Center or to Heartland Resources in Ewing, MO.
