Felony Arrest

On February 1, 2025, a suspect broke into the MFA Agri Services Office, near LaBelle, Missouri.  After gaining entry the suspect took approximately $3,000 in US Currency and gas cards.  The suspect was caught on video surveillance but was wearing a hood, gloves and a mask. 
On February 25, 2025, a suspect broke into Highland High School, near Ewing, Missouri.  The suspect took several thousand dollars in US Currency.  The suspect was observed wearing a hood, gloves and mask similar the burglary that occurred at MFA.
In February, 2025, Chief Deputy Jerrod Eisenberg began collaborating with Wapello County, Iowa Sheriff’s Office Deputy Aaron McConnell.  They were investigating a similar burglary in their jurisdiction.  Over the next two months, and after extensive technology-based investigation, Curtis L. Barton was identified as the primary suspect.  Wapello County made application for search warrant through the Pulaski County, Arkansas court, with the assistance of the Arkansas State Police.  The court approved the search warrant request.
On April 29, 2025, the Arkansas State Police executed a search warrant at the residence of Mr. Barton in Jacksonville, Arkansas.  Members of the LCSO and WCSO were also present and recovered evidence believed to connect Mr. Barton to several burglaries.  He was also taken into custody on a warrant out of Lewis County.
On April 29, 2025, formal charges were filed by Lewis County Prosecutor Chelsea Fellinger.  Williams was charged with the class D felonies of burglary in the second degree and stealing in relation to the MFA burglary.  He was also charged with the class B felony of burglary in the first degree, class D felony of stealing and the class E felony of property damage in the first degree, in relation to the burglary at Highland High School.
On April 29, 2025, the Honorable Corey Moon, Associate Judge, issued a warrant for Mr. Barton and set his bond on $100,000.00 cash only bond. 
Mr. Barton remains incarcerated in the Pulaski County Jail for the Lewis County charges.  He has waived extradition and will be transported to the Lewis County Jail in the future.
Mr. Barton, a convicted felon and parolee from the State of Missouri, is suspected of committing burglaries throughout the state of Missouri, and law enforcement continues to work with those jurisdictions.
This arrest was the culmination of the investigative work of several agencies, including, the LCSO, the Wapello County Sheriff’s Office, Iowa Division of Criminal Investigation, Missouri State Highway Patrol Division of Drug and Crime Control, Arkansas State Police and the Federal Bureau of Investigation.
