LESLIE WAYNE (WINNIE) POWERS

Leslie Wayne (Winnie) Powers, 66 of Canton, Mo., formerly of La Grange, Mo., died September 15, 2017 at his residence in Canton.

He was born January 3, 1951 in Hannibal, Mo., a son of Leslie Lloyd and Loretta Fay Stover Powers. He married Jeanette Cobb on August 29, 1970 and to this union three children were born; Missy, Wayne and Angie.

Winnie graduated from Quincy High School in 1969. He was employed at Electric Wheel in Quincy. He enjoyed doing body work, attending car shows and fishing. Winnie was always jamming out to his favorite music. He greatly loved traveling and found love for Wyoming and Arizona. More than traveling, Winnie loved spending time with his family and friends. He was a practical joker and most of all loved “Beautiful Downtown La Grange”.

Survivors include his mother, Loretta Powers of La Grange; three children, Melissa (Fred) Thatcher of Congerville, Ill; Leslie Wayne Powers Jr. and Tammy Sweezer of Jefferson City, Mo; and Angela Powers and Robert McKim of Ewing, Mo; three brothers, Gary (Sandy) Powers of Canton, Ronnie Powers and Debbie Price of Canton and Kenny (Ann) Powers of Maricopa, AZ; two sisters, Sheila (Richard) Kaylor and Susie Curless both of La Grange; grandchildren, Paige Kerr, Naomi Ragar, Logan Sheridan, Gracie Goings, Kaleb Goings, Ethan McKim, Christian Powers, Marissa Powers, Abby Sweezer, Cameron Sweezer and Owen Gaither; great grandchildren, Merena, Gabriel and Emmy and several nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his father and one brother, Bobby Powers.

Funeral services will be held Wednesday, September 20, 2017 at 11 a.m. at the Davis Funeral Home in La Grange with Brother Benny Jarvis officiating. Visitation was held September 19, 2017 at the Davis Fueneral Home in La Grange. Music: “Far Side Banks of Jordan”, “Go Rest High on that Mountain”and “Prop Me Up Beside the Jukebox”

Honorary Pallbearers: Terry Oberdahlhoff, Danny Grubbs, Tyrell Kerr, David Powers, Timmy Kaylor and Johnny Powers.
