James “Jimmy” Clarence Mathes, 46, of Maywood, Mo., passed away Sunday, July 5, 2026, at his home in Maywood, Mo.
Funeral Services will be held at 10:00 a.m, Friday, July 10. 2026, at the Ball-Davis Funeral Home in Ewing, Mo. Mr. Gabe Hoener will officiate. Burial will follow at Maywood Cemetery in Maywood, Mo.
Friends and Family are invited to Jimmy’s Life Celebration at a visitation that will be held from 4:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m., Thursday, July 9. 2026, at the Ball-Davis Funeral Home in Ewing, Mo.
Arrangements are under the direction of the Ball-Davis Funeral Home in Ewing, Mo.
Jimmy was born on January 3, 1980, in Quincy, Ill., to Travis Mathes and Lavon Bartz Mathes. He was married to Holly Mathes on September 11, 2010, in Marion County, Mo. She survives.
Other survivors include his mother, children, Bayleah (Dustin) Shelton of Edina, Mo., Travis Dayne Mathes of Lewistown, Mo., Calyn Mathes of Maywood, Mo., Axton Mathes of Maywood, Mo., grandchildren, Wrenleigh, Mayzleigh, Rylan, brothers, Travis “Bubba” (Amanda) Mathes of Lewistown, MO, Zackary Mathes of Maywood, MO, special cousin, Tasha Rothweiler and numerous nieces, nephews and cousins.
Jimmy was preceded in death by his father, grandparents, Clarence and Dorothy Bartz, Jim and Bonnie Mathes, Mae Curtis, uncle, Wayne Bartz, and aunt, Linda Routt.
Jimmy was the owner of Mathes Trucking. A graduate of the CDL program at John Wood Community College, Jimmy loved trucking and his blue Mack truck was his favorite. He dedicated his life to keeping things moving.
Jimmy never met a stranger and seemed to know everyone. He loved his family and friends, enjoyed teasing those around him, and was known for his great sense of humor. He was a devoted fan of the Kansas City Chiefs, St. Louis Cardinals, wrestling, and UFC.
A talented softball player and power hitter, Jimmy traveled extensively for the sport and later coached his children’s sports. He was an avid outdoorsman who enjoyed deer and turkey hunting, mushroom hunting, collecting firearms, and trout fishing at Bennett Springs and Montauk.
Jimmy also loved smoking meats, especially poor man’s brisket and steaks, and relaxing with a Natty Light. Friends and family will fondly remember his late-night sweet tooth for chocolate, Snickers, Turtles, and a cold glass of milk.
He will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved him.
Pallbearers will be Bubba Mathes, Dayne Mathes, Luke Rothweiler, JR Routt, Ritchie Keith, Curtis Meany, Randy Hackemack and Zackary Mathes.
Honorary pallbearers will be Blake Hetzler, John Bartz III, Donnie McDowell, Richard Tate, Marty Allensworth and Axton Mathes.
Memorial contributions may be made to Calyn and Axton Mathes Education Fund in c/o Holly Mathes
