Karen Carpenter (left) was recently presented a certificate of appreciation by Pat Livingston of The Disabled American Veterans Chapter 32. Pat said that Karen Carpenter of Canton, Mo. is a lady that veterans admire and appreciate. Karen is there for every Disabled American Veterans fundraiser, meeting and event.
Karen has gathered a group of volunteers from Lewis County, Marion County and Adams County in Illinois and when the veterans need help, they are there. Carpenter helps homeless vets, she helps handicapped vets and helps at the Quincy Veterans home annual picnic. She helps decorate and walks the DAV float in the Veterans Day parade. She is at her post in Quincy when Forget me nots (poppies) are handed out. Karen cares for two veterans full time. Karen is planning a special day of food, games and more to be held July 3 for all of the residents of Canton Senior Housing In honor of our country’s anniversary.
