Munzlinger Announces Candidacy

April 23, 2026

Lifelong Lewis County resident and former State Senator Brian Munzlinger has announced his candidacy for Presiding Commissioner, pledging to bring experienced, commonsense leadership to the people of his home county.
“With deep roots in Lewis County and a lifetime spent working alongside our farmers, families, and small businesses, I believe it’s time to give back once again in a way that strengthens our future,” Munzlinger said. “As Presiding Commissioner, my focus will be on responsible county government, protecting our rural values, and ensuring taxpayer dollars are used wisely to maintain safe roads, support essential services, and encourage local growth.”
Munzlinger, a farmer and small business owner, previously served in both the Missouri House of Representatives and the State Senate, where he championed agriculture, rural infrastructure, property rights, and education. Through his work with local officials, he has helped guide Lewis County through tornado recovery, flood response efforts, and disaster cleanup, demonstrating steady leadership in times of crisis.
In addition to his legislative service, Munzlinger has built a strong record of involvement on local and statewide boards, commissions, and community organizations. He is a longtime member and past officer of the Lewis County Farm Bureau. He has supported and mentored youth through local FFA and 4-H programs and previously served on the Lewis County Extension Council, promoting University of Missouri Extension programs.
Munzlinger has also served 10 years on the Missouri Emergency Response Commission and five years on the Missouri Parole Board. He currently serves as a member of the Mid-America Port Commission.
“I’ve always believed government works best when it listens to the people it serves,” Munzlinger added. “Lewis County deserves leadership that is accessible, transparent, and focused on what matters most — strong families, good jobs, and preserving the rural way of life that makes our county special.”
Brian and his wife, Michele, live near Williamstown, where they remain active in farming, local organizations, community service and attend the Monticello Methodist Church.
The election for Presiding Commissioner of Lewis County will be held in August.
