Highland Civic Club Takes Action
March 04, 2026
Junior High students at Highland are learning and practicing civic by identifying real problems in the communities. They are identifying civic leaders and organizations, defining their role in the community, sending letters and emails to invite leaders to interviews and panel discussions, and creating real solutions to real community issues. Some of the students are shown reading the Press-News Journal, a great source of information for every resident. Their work will be presented at the Civics Fair on March 26 at Highland High School. Parents and community members are invited to attend. This project is funded through a micro-grant from the Bill of Rights Institute, and students will also participate in National Civics Week taking place March 9–13.
A healthy Lewis County requires great community news.
