The Canton Library is seeking information about a carved wooded statue of a sandbagger that is displayed in the library. The statue is believed to have been presented to the library after the 1993 Mississippi River flood. The Library would appreciate learning about who carved it, who received it, was there a ceremony. One theory suggests that it was presented in commemoration of the cooperation between the college and community, and dedicated to all the hard work of volunteers to save the town. Anyone who has any information can contact the Canton Public Library at 573-288-5279 or stop in at 403 Lewis Street.
