Richard “Larry” Raleigh, 85, of Canton, MO passed away at 11:40 PM, Wednesday, February 4,
2026, at Blessing Hospital in Quincy, IL.
Funeral Services will be held at 10:30 AM, Monday, February 9, 2026, at the Davis Funeral
Home in Canton, MO. Rev. Paul Smith will officiate. Burial will follow at Forest Grove Cemetery
in Canton, MO.
Friends and Family are invited to Larry’s Life Celebration at a visitation that will be held from
9:00 AM to 10:30 AM, Monday, February 9, 2026, at the Davis Funeral Home in Canton, MO.
Arrangements are under the direction of the Davis Funeral Home in Canton, MO.
Larry was born on June 23, 1940, in Quincy, IL, to Patrick Raleigh and Frances Mildred Bash
Raleigh. Larry was first married to Lois Pratt. She preceded him in death. He was later married
to Norma L. Weatherby Brocksmith in 1965. She preceded him in death on October 2, 2025. He
later married Patsy Ann Shanks Raleigh in 1988. She preceded him in death on January 30,
2017.
Survivors include his children, Darla (Wade) Gaus of Canton, MO, Tina (Roy) Hetzler of Canton,
MO, Lisa (Michael) Harker of Quincy, IL, Stephanne (Mark) Baker of Canton, MO, grandchildren,
Levi (Jordyn) Gaus, Katelyn Gaus (Guy Baskerville), Rachael (Daron) Dalton, Megan Hetzler (Kyle
Tracy), Charles Hetzler (Hannah Dye), Joshua Lee, Jonathan (Ashley) Lee, Jennfier Lee (Alex
Rhodes), Darin Munzlinger, Joshua (Shanen) Middendorf, great grandchildren, Georgia Lee,
Charlotte Lee, Jaxon Rhodes, Bradley Groff, Colton Dalton, Citori Dalton, Esperanzo, Isaiah, Rose
and Eisley Middendorf and numerous nieces and nephews.
Larry was preceded in death by his parents, wives, brothers, Lloyd and Floyd Raleigh, Wilford
Pete Raleigh, sister, Norma Jean Prisner and infant sister, Elizabeth Raleigh.

Larry was a hardworking and proud man who spent many years employed at Gardner Denver,
where he worked in the foundry as a grinder. He took great pride in his work and was known
for his dedication and strong work ethic.
Larry could often be found reading the Farmer’s Almanac, newspapers, and tractor and trade
magazines. Farming was close to his heart, as he helped with row-crop farming and spent
countless hours refinishing antique tractors. He proudly displayed his restored tractors at
Nieman’s for others to admire.

A passionate collector, Larry had an impressive collection of toy tractors—especially Allis-
Chalmers and Case IH. He also liked to collect writing pens. He was also a good dancer and
enjoyed helping with dances at the dance hall.
Larry had a sweet tooth and never passed up orange soda, sweets, or chocolate. He was known
for his determined nature—when he set his mind on something, he wanted it, and he wanted it
now. This trait, along with his many interests, made him unforgettable to those who knew him.
Larry will be remembered for his strong work ethic, his love of tractors and farming, and his
unmistakable personality that left a lasting impression on everyone he met.
Pallbearers will be Wade Gaus, Levi Gaus, Katelyn Gaus, Roy Hetzler, Mike Harker and Monty
Kearns.
Memorial contributions may be made to the Canton R-V Ag Department for redoing tractors or
the Canton R-V Food Pantry.
