Mrs. Elaine Fishback 83 of Canton, Missouri died January 6, 2026 at Lewis County Nursing in Canton.
Elaine was born May 21, 1942 in Kirksville, Missouri to Francis Winship and Harden Hollowell. Growing up, Elaine lived in many different cities throughout Missouri and Kansas. By
high school she had settled in Williamstown where she met her future husband, Bud Fishback, at Providence Baptist Church. They later married there on August 28, 1960. Elaine was an active member at Providence in various capacities. He preceded her in death on August 27, 2023.
Later in life Elaine and Bud packed up and moved from rural Williamstown to the City of St. Louis. Elaine always looked forward to showing the grandkids all the sights of the city. Elaine was a talented artist. She loved selling her paintings at any craft show she could find. Elaine painted on canvas, saw blades, milk cans, anything she could find. Many people own an Elaine Fishback original.
Upon Bud’s retirement, they moved to Canton, Missouri. Elaine and Bud liked to travel; they have visited all 50 states. Vacations became an annual event with children, grandchildren and great grandchildren. Family meant everything to Elaine.
She is survived by her children, Tom (Kim) Fishback of Jefferson City, Mo. and Sherry (Jeff) Shuman of Canton, Mo.; four grandchildren, Craig (Ashley) Fishback of Jefferson City, Mo., Zach Shuman of Fulton, Mo., Tyler (Miranda) Fishback of New Bloomfield, Mo. and Drew (Kirstin) Shuman of Fulton, Mo.; two great-grandchildren, Cash and Hazel Fishback; sister Karen (Glenn) Cambre of Baton Rouge, La.; brothers, Russell (Eiko) Hollowell of St. Joseph, Mo.; Richard (Pat) Hollowell of Baton Rouge, La., sisters in law Ester Ann Fishback of Springfield, Il., Wyneta Fishback of Kahoka, Mo., brother in law Jerry Brookhart of Burlington, Ia., and many nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, Thomas Bud Fishback and a sister, Marjorie Brookhart
Funeral services will be held Saturday, January 10, 2026 at 10:30 a.m. at Arnold’s Funeral Home in Canton, Missouri with Rev. James Leezer officiating. Visitation will be held Saturday from 9:00 a.m. until the time of services at Arnold’s Funeral Home in Canton
Pallbearers: Tom Fishback, Jeff Shuman, Craig Fishback, Zach Shuman, Tyler Fishback and Drew Shuman.
Burial will be in the Providence Cemetery near Williamstown, Missouri.
Memorials may be made to the Providence Baptist Church.
