THELMA FELDKAMP
December 11, 2025
Thelma Rose Wheeler Benning Feldkamp, 91, of Canton, Mo., went to be with the Lord on Friday, December 5, 2025, at the Lewis County Nursing Home in Canton, Mo.
Thelma was the daughter of William (Bill) and Mabel Powell Wheeler. She was born on October 25, 1934. The youngest of six children, she was raised on a farm in Derrahs, Mo. She married J. Hardin Benning on September 12, 1953. Together they had two children, Michael and Janet. Hardin died in 1997. She married Henry W. Feldkamp on July 25, 1998. They were happily married for 20 years until his death in 2018.
For those lucky enough to know Thelma many things were clear…she was a woman of tremendous faith and a very good listener. Thelma was a member of St. Joseph Catholic Church. She participated in Alanon, connected to the AA Program for over 30 years. She sponsored many Alateens and always had the coffee pot on. One of her biggest accomplishments was when she attended Gem City College and graduated with a Horology degree at the age of 59. Thelma loved to draw, especially on rocks. She loved giving them away and anyone who was lucky enough to receive one can cherish it forever.
In her working years Thelma worked in maintenance at Culver-Stockton College and at Canton State Bank. She was in the activities department at the Lewis County Nursing Home. She was the house mother for the Lambda Chi fraternity and ended her working years at the Davis Funeral Home.
Before Thelma moved to the Lewis County Nursing Home in 2017, she was a “member’’ of the “Breakfast Club” at Ayerco where she loved visiting with some of her many friends. Thelma’s hobbies included sewing, gardening, drawing, painting and cooking. We will miss her potato salad and hot roast beef sandwiches, just to name a few.
Thelma is survived by her son, Michael (Karen) Benning of Albuquerque, NM and her daughter, Janet Armstrong (Tim Scott) of Ft Myers, Fla., brother, Marion Wheeler, step-children, Lois McCutchan, Kathy (Mike) Sorrill, Susan (Dudley) Powell, Gary (Carolyn) Feldkamp, and Lary (Iola) Feldkamp, grandson, Ethan (Ann) Benning and their daughters Emily & Ari, step-grandchildren: Jessalyn Armstrong, Cherlyn (Grant) Evans, Casey (Ryan) Fountain, Cara (Tim) Fessenden, Emily (Jeremy) Pilkington, Matthew (Ashley) Powell, Luke (Shelby) Powell, Melissa (John) Entrup, Amanda (Bryan) Willing, Jacob (Tara) Sorrill, Katelyn Feldkamp and Kellie Feldkamp, 19 step-great grandchildren and one step-great-great grandson.
