Carter Named Vice President

Consumer Banker First Bankers Trust Company, N.A. (First Bankers Trust), a wholly-owned subsidiary of First Bankers Trustshares, Inc., First Bankers Trust Company First Bankers Trust Company, N.A. has announced the addition of J. Nelson Carter as Vice President, Consumer Banker, effective November 17, 2025. Carter will report directly to Sherry Schaffnit, Senior Vice President.
In his new role, Carter will be responsible for originating consumer and mortgage loans, monitoring loan portfolio performance, and strengthening relationships with customers, referral partners, and community organizations. His work will support the bank’s ongoing commitment to providing high-quality financial solutions and personalized banking services throughout the region.
Carter brings more than 17 years of experience in the banking industry. Prior to joining First Bankers Trust Company, he originated agricultural, consumer, mortgage, and commercial loans. His extensive lending background and strong relationship-building skills position him as a valuable addition to the FBTC team.
Carter and his wife, Kelly, reside in Maywood, Missouri. Outside of work, he enjoys cars, music, and movies.
