Canton Christian Church Celebrates 175 Years

Canton Christian Church (Disciples of Christ), in Canton, Missouri is celebrating their 175th anniversary with a special service on Sunday, November 9, 2025, at 10:45 am.
“On June 8, 1850 , an organizational meeting was held at Canton, with 23 residents forming a congregation ‘taking the Bible alone for the rule and practice of their faith.’ They were joined by four others the next week, and in the following weeks, more were added by baptism or transfer.” An excerpt from Proud to be Disciples: Canton Christian Church, Canton Missouri, 1850-2000, by George R. The congregation is excited to celebrate this historical event, along with local dignitaries who will be present. The service includes special music from the
choir, Robert Mevissen, and Andy Schroetter. There will be a special message from Rev. Paul Smith and Rev. Roger Ricketts. A dinner in the Fellowship Hall will follow.
