Seed and Plant Exchange at Library

April 16, 2025

Celebrate Earth Day at Canton Public Library’s Seed and Plant Exchange on Tuesday, April 22 at 6:00 p.m. Participants are encouraged to bring seeds saved from vegetables and plants from last year’s garden, leftover seeds that were unused last year but may still be viable, extra seedlings you’ve grown, perennials that have been divided, or other garden favorites you want to share. Also welcome are houseplant cuttings. It’s a great opportunity to try some new varieties.
Master Gardener Sharon Upchurch will lead a discussion on planning for a summer of abundance. Sharon will bring a variety of perennials such as hostas, a historic variety of fragrant white lilacs bushes, Autumn Joy sedum - a great butterfly plant, Siberian iris, Chocolate Mint, blue salvia, and Gilbert Wild hybrid daylilies. Gilbert Wild is a very old company from Sarcoxie, Missouri, in business since 1885. As always, participants are encouraged to bring lots of questions and their own tips for gardening success.
The library is located at 403 Lewis Street in Canton. It is open Tuesday - Friday 9 AM to 6 PM and Saturdays 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Visit the library’s website at www.cantonmopubliclibrary.org, find them on Facebook at Your Canton Public Library, or call 573-288-5279.
