ROWENA ELOISE HAWKINS

Mrs. Rowena Eloise Hawkins, 97, of Canton, Mo., known to her many friends and family as Eloise, left this earth on April 21, 2016 at Blessing Hospital in Quincy, Ill.

Eloise was born June 14, 1918 in East Moline, IL a daughter of Albert and Bessie Jaques. She was the beloved wife of James K. Hawkins for 75 years. They were married in Peoria, IL on June 18, 1937. He died October 14, 2012.

She was a member of Immanuel United Methodist Church and it’s UMW in Canton for over 30 years and previously was a member of La Grange United Methodist Church for many years. She was also a 50 year member of both the White Shrine of Jerusalem and Oder of Eastern Star. Eloise was an avid fisherman. After she laid down her fishing pole she loved to play cards, bingo and Mexican train dominoes. Her greatest joys were her family, friends and almost everyone she met.

She was the dear mother of James A. (Judy) Hawkins, Terry L. Hawkins and girlfriend (La) and Debra S. (Dan) Mitchell; dear sister of Forest (Betty) Jaquest; grandmother to James F. (Kelly) Hawkins, Jason M. (Shelley) Hawkins, Jacob M. (Stephanie) Hawkins, Austin K. Hawkins and girlfriend (Kaydi) and Helena E. (Ted) Stollman; great grandmother to Brian J. (Colleen) Hawkins, Calvin T. Hawkins, Peyton M. Hawkins, Braden D. Knoesel, Bennett S. Hawkins, Lakyn J. Hawkins, Reese L. Hawkins, Archer M. Hawkins, Dominic Hawkins and Maximillian Hawkins; great great grandmother to Hudson J. Hawkins and Beckett J. Hawkins; she was also a loving aunt, cousin and great friend to many.

She was preceded in death by her parents and husband.

Funeral services and a celebration of her life was held April 24, 2016 at 2:00 p.m. at the Immanuel United Methodist Church in Canton with Pastor Harry Cooper officiating. Music: W.E. Dorris, vocalist; Karla McReynolds, organist. Pallbearers: James F. Hawkins, Jason M. Hawkins, Jacob M. Hawkins, Brian J. Hawkins, Calvin T. Hawkins, Peyton M. Hawkins, Braden D. Knoesel and John Torbert.

Burial was in Forest Grove Cemetery in Canton.

The family suggests memorials be made to Immanuel United Methodist Church.
