WILMA A. BADER

Mrs. Wilma A. Bader, age 100, of Canton, Mo., died passed away April 14, 2016 at the Lewis County Nusing Home in Canton, Mo.

She was born July 17, 1915 in Canton a daughter of Joseph Wm. and Alice Maria Bradrick Honaker. She married Hilburn W. Bader on October 20, 1935 in Canton. He died September 25, 1990.

At the age of 13, shortly after her mothers death, Wilma moved to town and lived with Dr. and Mrs. Sam Lillard, helping to raise their two infant daughters. She attended and graduated from Canton High School. She and her husband were married shortly after graduation. They owned and operated Bader Sinclair Service were she attended to the bookkeeping. She then worked at the telephone office as an operator and later for Mrs. Gross in the Jewelry Store. Eventually she started working at Canton State Bank where she remained until her retirement. After retiring from the Bank, Wilma began answering the phone and assisting with visitations and funerals at the Davis Funeral Home. At the age of 95 she moved to Columbia, Mo., and lived with her granddaughter, Alyce, until her recent move to the nursing home. She was a member of Immanuel United Methodist Church in Canton.

Survivors include her son, Dr. Larry W. (Carole) Bader of Columbia, daughters, Vicki V. (Kent) Leftwich of Canton and Jani L. (Aubrey) Moncrief of Osage Beach, Mo; six grandchildren, Alyce (Jim) Cooley of Columbia, Eric (Katie) Bader of St. Charles, Mo., Todd (Denise) Leftwich of Canton, Greg (Jennifer) Leftwich of Palmyra, Mo., Ian (Alexa) Moncrief of Seattle, WA and Drew (Stephanie) Moncrief of Strawberry Plains, TN; great grandchildren, Jordan and Brooke Cooley, Davis and Jesse Bader, Bailey, Taylor and Gage Leftwich, Grayson, Indy Fox, Cannon and Nora Moncrief; sister in law, Pat Honaker of Loveland, Colo., and several nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents, five sisters, Elizabeth Mayes, Henrietta Dehner, Carolyn Barnes, Frances Smith, Virginia Knight and two brothers, Bill and Hughes Honaker.

Private family graveside services and burial were held April 18, 2016 at 11:00 a.m. at Forest Grove Cemetery in Canton. Pallbearers: Todd Leftwich, Greg Leftwich, Taylor Leftwich, Jim Cooley, Ian Moncrief and Drew Moncrief.

The family suggests memorials be made to the Canton Public Library or to the charity of the donor’s choice in care of Davis Funeral Home.
