GERALD SUTTER

Gerald LeRoy Sutter, 87, of Taylor, passed away April 16, 2016 at his home. He was born October 13, 1928, in LaGrange, Mo to Eli and Elizabeth Grimm Sutter.

He married Marjorie Wenneker on September 11, 1949 at the Apostolic Christian Church in Taylor, Missouri. She survives.

Gerald grew up in West Quincy, Mo. on a farm. He attended Willow Bend Grade School and was a 1945 graduate of Palmyra High School. He then attended Gem City Business College where he met his wife, Marjorie. Mr. Sutter served on the Highland High School Board of Education for 5 years. He was also a member of the first Board of Directors of the Lewis County Ambulance District. He and his wife were active members of the Apostolic Christian Church in Taylor, Mo. where he was a lay minister for 44 years. He farmed in the Taylor area for many years and was also a Sales Representative for the Pioneer Seed Company. Although farming brought him much enjoyment, Gerald’s greatest joys were found in his faith and family, seeing them often and praying for them by name every day.

Other survivors include children: Marcia Sutter, Taylor, Mo; Stephen (Deb) Sutter Taylor, Mo; Daniel (Tina) Sutter, Taylor, Mo; Richard (Kay) Sutter, Taylor, Mo; Timothy (Carla) Sutter, Hannibal, Mo. and Peggy (Doug) Hoerr, Morton, Il.; 19 grandchildren and 27 great-grandchildren; a sister, Joyce (Robert) Pohl , Colorado, foster brother Bob (Marylyn) Frieden, Nevada, sisters-in-law, Lois Sutter, Palmyra, Mo. and Charlene Sutter, Taylor, Mo.

He was preceded in death by his parents, a child, Eli Fredrick Sutter, brothers, Edward, James and Richard Sutter; and sister, Naomi Heimer Moser.

Funeral services will be held at 10 a.m. Friday, April 22, 2016 at the Apostolic Christian Church in Taylor, Mo. Visitation will be held Thursday from 4-8 p.m. at the Apostolic Christian Fellowship Center in Taylor, Mo. Casket bearers will be Jared Sutter, Josh Sutter, Caleb Sutter, Wesley Sutter, Clinton Sutter, Chad Hoerr, Nathan Sutter, Craig Sutter, Cole Sutter and Seth Hoerr. Honorary casket bearer will be Dr. Roderick Bartlett.

Interment will be in the church cemetery.

In lieu of flowers, donations made be to the Apostolic Christian Home for Handicapped, Morton, Il. The Lewis Brothers Funeral Chapel in Palmyra is in charge of arrangements.
