Back To State

Kerry Williams will head to the state Special Olympics softball tournament in October with his team, the Jackson County Dreamers to compete for their second state title.
Kerry Alan Williams of Lee’s Summit Mo., formerly from Canton., competed Aug 24 with the Jackson County Dreamers adult t-ball Special Olympics softball team. The Dreamers started the first game with their heads in the clouds, as the short-handed (6-player) St Joseph Panthers took a 4-run lead in the top of the first inning. However, a well-timed 30-minute lightning delay split the inning, and the Dreamers came back to earth and earned a gold medal by winning against St Joseph and the Lee’s Summit Lightning.
Kerry was an integral part of the tournament, combining with the first baseman to field more than half of the outs in the game against the Lee’s Summit team. On offense Kerry continues to add hard-hit shots to the right side of the field, with singles and a double to help the team. Kerry Alan and The Dreamers return to the Special Olympics State tournament October 12 in Jefferson City to try and earn back-to-back state gold medals.
