Lay's Anniversary Celebration

Doug and Renny Lay celebrated their 45th wedding anniversary on Friday, April 5, in Palmyra with their sons, Joe and wife Shannon Lay and Lane Lay and friend Morgan Benedict. They enjoyed a restaurant meal and then later played card at Lane and Morgan’s home.

They were married April 7, 1979, at Ten Mile Baptist Church, with a reception following at Ten Mile Community Hall. Their wedding party included Mike Bronestine, Steve Schnelle, Jim Trumlee, Becky McElhoe (Karlie), Barb Berhorst (Bronestine), Pat Berhorst (Feldkamp). Ring bearer was Jeremy Rayl and Jaime O’Brien (Oitker) was flower girl. Ushers were Darren and Darrell Cottrell, candle lighters were Renzie Cottrell and Darla Lay (Brocksmith). Dodie Cottrell Rayl (Washburn) attended the guestbook. Music was provided by Susie Gaus (Job) and Mary Jo Smith. The flowers were white roses with baby’s breath in the bride’s bouquet, boutonnieres and the decorations at the church, with the colors of mint green for the bridesmaid dresses and groomsmen shirts.

Doug is the son of the late Donald and Doris Lay, rural Canton, Renny is the daughter of the late Everett Cottrell Jr and Anna Cottrell, Monticello, Mo. The couple enjoy camping, spending time with family and working on their farm. Doug is currently disabled from a back injury, but drives an Amish carpenter crew occasionally, Renny is currently the head teller at United state bank in Lewistown. Their children are Casey Bell, (deceased), husband Chris Bell of rural LaBelle, Joe Lay and wife Shannon, of rural Knox Cit;y and Lane Lay and special friend Morgan Benedict both of Palmyra. Grandsons are Morgan (Josh) Pridemore, Lewistown; Corbin Bell and special friend Zach Myers, rural Knox City, CJ Bell, Knox City, Mason Bell Ewing, Kodie Lay, rural Knox city, Violet and Lily Foley  and Killian McGee, of Palmyra. Great grand kids are nJeremiah and Jackson Pridemore, Lewistown and Corbin has a baby girl expected in July.
