Roy Ray McSorley, 77, of Canton, Mo., died April 4, 2016 at Blessing Hospital in Quincy, Ill.

He was born November 17, 1938 at Shelbina, Mo., a son of Roy Ray and Doris Perrigo McSorley Sr.. He married Martha Jo Rogers on May 9, 1970 in Canton. She survives.

Ray was a member of the Eagles Aerie 1800 of Canton, the NRA and the Communication Workers of America Union. He had worked 42 years for the telephone company and retired as the Central Office Technician. Ray was an Army Veteran serving from 1957-1959. He was of the Protestant faith and in years past he enjoyed going to the Rutledge and Colony Dog and Gun Auction, he also enjoyed collectables.

Survivors include his wife Jo of Canton; son, Roy (Dana) McSorley of Canton; daughter, Lisa (Jerry) Webb of Kansas City, Mo; three grandchildren, Roy Ray McSorley IV of Canton and Addison Webb and Ty Webb of Kansas City, Mo; special extended family member, Jessica Cain; three sisters, Marilyn Baker, of Shelbina, Billie Jean Grable of Shelbina and Carol Talbot of Eldon, Mo., and several nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents, three sisters, Judy Vanskike, Ruth Ann Grawe, Edith Buckman; one brother Raymond Audrey McSorley.

Funeral services will be held Thursday, April 7, 2016 at 10 a.m. at the Davis Funeral Home in Canton with Pastor Brian Stone officiating.Visitation will be held Wednesday, April 6, 2016 from 4 until 8 p.m. at the Davis Funeral Home in Canton. Music: Amazing Grace and Come to Jesus. Pallbearers will be: Kenny Kroencke, Randy Novinger, Jackie Shires, Bob Goodwin, Wayne Snodgrass, Shelby Pugh

Burial with military honors will be in Forest Grove Cemetery in Canton.

The family suggests memorials be made to the NRA for youth shooting sports in Missouri.
