Canton R-V Board

The Canton R-V Board of Education met on March 11, 2024 in the Canton R-V Library Media Center Conference Room for the regular, monthly business meeting.

The Board discussed the following items in the consent agenda: meeting minutes, transfers, amendments, building principal reports, attendance, lunch, and safety reports. Following the consent agenda, the Board authorized the payment of the monthly bills.

Superintendent Uhlmeyer presented the monthly financial report to the Board of Education. The balance in Funds 10-60 as of 2/29/2024 was $10,156,801.37. This was an $877,138.80 increase from the previous fiscal year.  The unrestricted balance in Fund 10 – Incidental on 2/29/2024 was $2,914,908.84, which was a decrease of $238,668.33 from the previous fiscal year. This decrease can be attributed to a portion of our local tax revenue being levied into Fund 40.

Following the financial report, the Board of Education was presented with information regarding the following:

Faculty and Staff Appreciation Dinner, Special Education-Focused Monitoring, Summer School, Early Learning Center Update, Continuous School

Improvement Plan.

 In current business, the Board took action on the following items: approved FY 2024 Budget Amendments; renewed the Food Service Management Contract with Opaa!; approved an overnight trip to State Science Olympiad; approved an overnight trip to State FBLA Convention and approved the Class of 2024 Senior Trip itinerary

 During executive session, the Board accepted resignations from Madalynn Behrens as the 9-12 history teacher and Teresa McKenzie as the varsity track coach for the 2024-2025 school year. The Board approved hiring Ashlie Weaver as an elementary special education teacher and Scott Biggerstaff as a volunteer boys’ golf coach.The Board was presented with certified evaluations and extended contracts to all current certified staff members.
