R-4 Fire District Tax Proposal

March 13, 2024

The R-4 Fire Protection District will be running a proposed tax increase on the upcoming April 2024 ballot. The increase would be a $0.05 cent increase in yearly property tax rate. The tax increase would generate approximately $28,000 to $30,000 per year. Rising costs of vehicle and building maintenance, insurance, fuel, equipment replacement or updates, training costs and other rising expenses made it necessary to ask for a small tax increase to continue to provide the volunteer fire department with the equipment and training that ensures the safety of the all the people that live or visit the area.

Voters in the R-4 Fire Protection District can contact a fire board member, Tom Stark, President, 573-248-5713, or Directors Davide Keith at 573-248-4789 or Bryan Jennings at 573-248-9035 with any questions or concerns.

More information will be published in next week’s edition. The election will be held on April 2, 2024.Polls are open between the hours of 6 a.m. to 7 p.m.
