FINLEY W. LEWIS JR.  

Finley W. (Shorty) Lewis Jr., 84, of LaGrange, Mo., died February 20, 2024 at Blessing Hospital in Quincy, Ill.

He was born November 26, 1939 in LaGrange, Mo., a son of Finley W. and Thelma Mae Hickman Lewis Sr.  He married Evelyn J. Clay of March 17, 1962 in Quincy, Ill.  She survives.

Shorty was a member of Green Chapel Baptist Church in La Grange where he served as a Trustee and was retired from the LaGrange Foundry.  He had been a member of the La Grange Auxiliary Police Department in years past.  He enjoyed bowling in Canton and Quincy, IL. and also liked to hunt, fish and be outdoors.

Survivors include his wife Evelyn of La Grange; children, Eric (Pam) Lewis of Topeka, Kan., Natalie (Clifton Ely) Williams of Quincy, Ill., Finley (Karen) Lewis III of LaGrange and Grant (Annette) Lewis of San Antonio, Tex., and a godchild raised in the home, Carlos (Jennifer) Lewis of Overland Park, Kan.; 23 grandchildren; 36 great grandchildren;  brothers, Paul (Clarice) Lewis, Donald Lewis, Alfred (Suzette) Lewis all of Quincy, and Charles Lewis of LaGrange; sisters, Janette Coleman of Little Elm, Tex., and Virginia Dade of LaGrange, Mo., and one brother in law, Eddie Clay of Quincy and many nieces, nephews including James (Binky) Dade of LaGrange and a host of other relatives.

He was preceded in death by his parents, brother John Anthony Lewis, grandson Tyson Lewis and great granddaughter Makiyah Lewis, brothers in law Delbert Coleman, James Dade Sr. Granville Clay Jr., Orville Thompson and Billy Buckner.

 Funeral services were held February 24, 2024 at the Davis Funeral Home in La Grange with Rev. Dane Humphrey officiating. Pallbearers: Eric Lewis, Kendall Scott, Eric Allen Lewis, Javone Lewis, Damian Lewis, Makhi Lewis. Honorary Pallbearers: James Dade, Arthur Clay, Clifton Ely, Randy Lewis, Channing Wildrick, Montez Lewis, Jeff Mundy, Derek Watson, Jeff Caldwell.

Burial was in Memorial Cemetery, La Grange, Mo.
