BILLY KENT (BK) TURNER

Billy K. (BK) Turner, 84, of rural Ewing, MO passed away Tuesday, February 6, 2024 at 12:51 p.m. at his home near Ewing.

He was born December 18, 1939 in Tolona, MO a son of William Ernest and Arietta Maxine Shires Turner. He married the love of his life, Shirley Ann Gaus, on July 17, 1960 at the Dover Baptist Church. She survives.

Billy graduated from La Grange High School in 1957. He was a Deacon, Trustee and Sunday School Teacher of the Dover Baptist Church where he accepted Jesus at an early age and was baptized, he had also been a Gideon at one time. Billy was a member of the Monticello Masonic Lodge and past master of the former Ewing Masonic Lodge. Billy farmed all of his life and wore many hats over the years. He worked at CARE as a transport driver, was an MU extension council member and a 4-H leader and at one time worked for Roy Goings as a mechanic. He also had worked construction with Clarence Deters, and had served and walked the Union Township Levy District.

Billy helped build the bins at Bunge and helped raise money to construct the Lewis County Fair Grounds. He had been a mechanic with Jim’s bomber cars at Scotties Raceway and he and Shirley enjoyed travelling to Donelson and Memphis to watch the races. He also enjoyed watching NASCAR on TV. In earlier years he enjoyed neighborhood tractor pulls at Dover. Billy enjoyed yearly vacations in Estes Park, CO to see the Elk come down from the mountain for the winter and enjoyed the Scottish festival the first week in September where different clans from all over the world came together to celebrate, he loved to listen to Bag Pipe music.

Survivors include his wife, Shirley Turner of Ewing; children, James Kent (Deann Hopson) Turner and Michelle “Shelly” (Michael) Nichols both of Ewing, MO; sister Betty Maxine (Donald) Fifer of Ewing; four granddaughters, Kellie Ann (Justin) Seals of Monticello, MO, Amanda Marie (Barrett) Struchtemyer of Mayview, MO, Alicia Marie Doran of Palmyra, MO and Jami Lynn Turner of Centralia, MO; great grandchildren, Tyler D., Tucker M. and Toby O. Seals, Elaine M. and Lucille A. Doran and Emmett J. and Quinnlyn A. Struchtemyer; aunt, Travelle Whitaker of Ewing and several nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents, sister and brother-in-law Aloma and Jerry Shoop, in laws Anne and Ercil Gaus, brother in law William Rash and niece Anita Rathbun.

Funeral services: February 10, 2024 at the Ball-Davis Funeral Home with Dennis Mayer officiating. Visitation: February 9, 2024 at the Ball-Davis Funeral Home in Ewing. Pallbearers: Jason Shoop, Jamie Schroder, Donnie Ray Fifer, Donnie Fifer, Tom Adam, Daniel Drebenstedt and Bill Rash Jr. Honorary Pallbearers: Donald Fifer, Barrett Struchtemyer, Justin Seals, Jami Turner, Alicia Doran, Amanda Stuchtemyer and Kellie Seals. Music: “Amazing Grace” and “The Well Done”

Burial in Dover Cemetery, rural La Grange, MO.
