Blind Date With A Book

February 02, 2024

“Blind Date with a Book” returns to the Canton Public Library during the month of February.

Throughout the month, patrons are encouraged to visit the “Blind Date with a Book” display where they will find an assortment of books wrapped in paper. The identity of the books will be hidden, but each one will have clues written on the wrapping that give intriguing hints about what may be inside. Despite the hints, mystery-lovers may end up with a romance, or a Sci-Fi fan might find themselves taking home a western.

Patrons are asked to unwrap their books when they get home and read at least 50 pages to determine if the book and the reader have made a connection. Sometimes it’s a perfect match and the reader and book might stay up all night together. Other times, well...some dates (and books) end early.

Each participant is encouraged to “rate their date” by filling out a special form inserted in each book. Even if the date was a dud and the reader could not make it past 50 pages, the “Rate Your Date” form should still be filled out. Patrons can go on as many blind dates as they want and for each “Rate Your Date” form returned, will be entered into a prize drawing.

This year, the library also will offer “Find a New BBFF (Best Book Friend Forever)” for kids. Kids, too, will be eligible for prizes by filling out “Rate My Book” forms.

All rating forms must be turned in by March 15, 2023.

Canton Public Library is open to the public from 9:00 AM to 6:00 PM, Tuesday through Friday; and 10:00 AM to 2:00 PM on Saturdays.
