VICKI LEFTWICH

January 17, 2024

Mrs. Vicki Leftwich, 81, of Canton, Mo., died January 11, 2024 at Maple Lawn Nursing Home in Palmyra, Mo.

Vicki was born August 9, 1942 in Canton, Mo., a daughter of Hilburn W. Bader and Wilma A. Honaker. She married her high school sweetheart, Kent Leftwich on June 4, 1961.

Vicki graduated from Canton High School in 1960. She was trained as a beautician but spent most of her life as a homemaker and working in the arts and crafts industry at Carolyn’s Craft in Quincy, Illinois, and The Hickory Stick in Hannibal, Missouri. She was also employed at the Bank of Monticello in Canton, Missouri before leaving the workforce to assist in the care of her grandson, Gage Leftwich. Vicki was an avid and talented lover of the crafts; skilled in basket weaving, knitting, tatting, macramé, and crocheting. Vicki loved traveling to basket making conferences, and teaching basket weaving and many other crafts. She was a voracious reader and a lover of classic movies and TV mystery shows. Vicki enjoyed traveling to historical sites and National Parks with Kent, but more importantly, she loved spending time with her family, particularly her grandchildren.

Survivors include her two sons, L. Todd (Denise) Leftwich of Canton and Greg (Jennifer) Leftwich of Palmyra; two grandchildren, Bailey Leftwich of Davenport, Fla., and Taylor (Natalie) Leftwich of Canton, Mo.

Vicki was preceded in death by her parents, Hilburn and Wilma Bader; husband, Kent Leftwich; brother, Dr. Larry Bader; sister, Jan Moncrief; and grandson Gage Leftwich.

The family suggests memorials be made to Shriners Hospitals for Children, the Grace Science Foundation (an organization researching a cure for her grandson Gage’s disease), the American Cancer Society, and the Canton Library. These memorials may be mailed or delivered to Davis Funeral Home, P.O. Box 108, Canton, MO 63435.

There will be a private family gathering at Forest Grove Cemetery in Canton, Mo.
