LARRY McCRACKEN

Larry Duane McCracken, 84, of Ewing, Mo., died December 23, 2023 in his home.
He was born January 5, 1939, the son of Port Haycraft McCracken and Eula Myrtle (Staggs) McCracken of Steffenville, Mo. He was married to Dianna (White) McCracken on Oct. 27, 2004.
Larry attended school in LaBelle, Mo. He later worked road construction for Cameron-Joyce Construction Company until he started logging. He was employed by Swords-Veneer and Lumber Company for 38 years and retired in 2006. He traveled to many states to purchase logs for his company.
Larry enjoyed buying and selling tractors, farming, cutting and raking hay and raising Longhorn cattle. He also did a lot of hunting for coyotes and raccoons with his dogs. He loved to go to auctions and eating out. Later in life he enjoyed smoking his pipe.
In addition to his wife, survivors include son Kevin D. McCracken (Patty) of Ewing, two stepsons, Mark and Jamie Rees, grandchildren, Jesse H. McCracken (Lauren) of Lakewood, Colorado; and Josie L. McCracken (Connor) of Ewing, Mo. Great-grandchildren, Nora and Vincent McCracken and Lainey Steed.
He was preceded in death by his parents, brother, Samuel McCracken and sister Maxine, McCracken-Owen and step-son Randy Rees.
Graveside services will be held at the Steffenville Mo., cemetery at 11 a.m. on Jan. 6. Elmer Hagood will officiate. A luncheon will follow at the Steffenville Fire Department building.
