Canton School Board
The Canton R-V Board of Education convened on December 11, 2023, in the Canton R-V Library Media Center Conference Room for its regular monthly business meeting. The agenda included various items to be discussed during the meeting.
The Board addressed several items in the consent agenda, including meeting minutes, transfers, amendments, building principal reports, attendance, lunch, and safety reports. Additionally, the Board authorized the payment of the monthly bills.
Superintendent Uhlmeyer presented the monthly financial report to the Board, revealing a balance of $7,824,341.29 in Funds 10-60 as of 11/30/2023, reflecting an increase of $886,767.62 from the previous fiscal year. The unrestricted balance in Fund 10 – Incidental on 11/30/2023 was $1,592,150.02, marking an increase of $507,159.90 from the prior year.
In the reports segment, the Board received information on board filing dates, minimum wage increase, IRS mileage reimbursement rate, and guidance and counseling services.
Under current business, the Board took action on the distribution from the Scholarship Fund and the surplus of technology equipment and supplies. Superintendent Uhlmeyer also shared the results of a survey that asked for input from District employees regarding a new benefit product called Paytient. Seventy percent of the faculty and staff said they would either use or would be interested in the product. The Board voted to add this benefit for employees who choose to enroll and to pay the month fee for those individuals.
During the executive session, the Board received information related to mid-year teacher evaluations.
