DEBRA KAY DANFORTH

Debra Kay Danforth, 68, of Canton, Mo., died October 20, 2023. at Blessing Hospital in Quincy, Ill.
She was born November 5, 1954 in Quincy, Ill., a daughter of John Donald and Lois Dean Miller Brown.
Debbie was active in Girl Scouts and 4-H and was privileged to give her “Brownie Demonstration” in the 4-H Theater Building at the State Fair in Sedalia, Mo.
She attended Grade school at Williamstown, Monticello and Lewistown, graduating from Highland High School in 1972. She attended Gem City Business College and worked at State Street Bank in Quincy, Ill., and Canton State Bank.
She was baptized and attended the Williamstown Christian Church, later becoming members of the Columbia Broadway Christian Church then the Canton Christian Church.
On November 10, 1973 she married Dennis Joe Danforth at the Williamstown Christian Church and to this marriage two children were born, Darcy Marie and Derek Joe Danforth.
Over the years she worked at Culver-Stockton College, before moving to Columbia, Mo., where she worked in several dental clinics. After retiring and for health reasons she moved back to Canton.
Family and friends were important to her and she enjoyed many family gathering including the annual camping trip with them to the Montauk State Park.
She was a Missouri fan and enjoyed watching Mizzou sports. She touched many lives with her thoughtfulness and kindness.
Debbie is survived by her children, Darcy (Craig) Buckwalter of Canton and Derek (Angie) Danforth of Lewistown, Mo.; her parents, Don and Lois Dean Brown of Williamstown; sister Diane (Harry) Wilson of Williamstown and brother Dale (Lini) Brown of Monticello, Mo.; six grandchildren, Kaylin, Nora, Boyd Buckwalter of Canton, Lexi of LaGrange, Dylan and Bradlee Danforth of Lewistown; nephews, Joshua (Ashley) Wilson of Canton, Toby Wilson of Lewistown, Zach (Khyleigh) Cottrell of Fort Wayne, Ind.; niece Kayla (Jacob) Scott of Dover, Mo., and several great nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her grandparents, J.W. and Lida Marks Brown, Lee and Beatrice Hinton Miller, a niece Amanda Brown and nephew, Matthew Wilson.
Funeral services will be held Wednesday, October 25, 2023 at 10:00 a.m. at the Davis Funeral Home in Canton with Rev. Amanda Gosik officiating. Burial will be in Zion Hill Cemetery near Williamstown. Visitation held Tuesday, October 24, 2023 from 5:00 until 8:00 p.m. at the Davis Funeral Home in Canton. Music: Amazing Grace, In The Garden, and Go Rest High on that Mountain. Pallbearers: Derek Danforth, Dale Brown, Harry Wilson, Joshua Wilson, Toby Wilson and Craig Buckwalter
The family suggests memorials be made to the Canton Christian Church or to the Zion Hill Cemetery.
