Joseph Edward Hooper Sr., 77, of Canton, Mo., died September 29, 2023 at in his home surrounded by family.

He was born December 27, 1945 in Arenzville, Ill., to Leroy Hooper and Gertrude Alberta Long Hooper. He was raised by his mother and step-father, Eugene Fredrick Feltes. He married Dovie Ann Hills on May 18, 1991 in Quincy, Ill. She survives.
Joeseph was a member of the Life Tabernacle Church in Canton. He had worked as a machinist and grinder for Gardner Denver for 32 years. He loved to fish and hunt and to get together with his family and friends. He mowed at the church with Floyd (Boomer) Wrinkle and John Bowen.
Survivors include his wife Dovie Ann Hooper of Canton; sons, Joseph Edward Hooper Jr. of Camp Point, Ill., and Robert Eugene Hooper of Loraine, Ill.; daughters, Tabatha Ann (Lee) Corey of Ewing, Mo., Brandy Sommer Crouch of Quincy and Michelle Marie (Travis) Sparrow of Quincy, Ill.; grandsons Justin Crouch of Kirksville, Mo., James Gallaher of Quincy, Ill., Ben Corey, of Nebraska, Xzavyer Crouch of Quincy and Michael Renier of Mendon, Ill.; granddaughters Brandy Jo VanOrder of Ewing, Mo., Hayleigh Beer of Mendon, Ill., Samantha Crouch of Lewistown, Mo., Elizabeth Corey of Nebraska, Nevaeh Crouch and Nazayla Crouch of Quincy; brothers Fredrick Feltes of Tomball, Tex., Bill Brandon of Quincy, Robert Hooper of Coos Bay, Ore., and Howard (Renae) Hooper of Wild Rose Wis.; sisters, Frances Hooper of Fla., Connie Hooper of Wisconsin Rapids, Wis., and Teresa Hooper of Hannibal, Mo.; eight great grandchildren, numerous nieces and nephews, and several aunts and uncles.
He was preceded in death by his mother and fathers, grandparents on both sides and several brothers and sisters.
Memorial services will be held Monday, October 16, 2023 at 3:00 p.m. at Life Tabernacle Church in Canton, Mo., with Pastor Phil Darnell officiating. Visitation will be held from 1:00 p.m. until time of service at Life Tabernacle.
The family suggests memorials be made to Life Tabernacle Church in Canton.
