Celebrating 50 years

John and Christine Carter celebrated 50 years of marriage with a dinner and cruise on the Mark Twain Riverboat in Hannibal, Mo. On August 12. Those attending were their children, Nelson Carter and wife Kelly, Kristen and husband Brian Ritterbusch, grandchildren Olivia, Hannah and Oliver Ritterbusch. The excursion and dinner were enjoyed by all.

John Carter is the son of Olney and Opal Carter of Maywood and Christine is the daughter of Arthur and Gladys Catron of Lewistown. The couple were married on August 11, 1973 in the old Durham Baptist Church by Rev. Loren Goings.

The couple was also honored during the morning service at South Union Baptist Church by Rachel Shepherd playing and singing Vince Gill’s “Look at Us’.

John and Christine Carter have lived on the Carter family farm near Maywood since their wedding day.
