Canton Public Meeting

The City of Canton held a public meeting on August 8. The purpose of the meeting was to get the public’s input of the future of the Canton Police Department. Mayor Pro-Tem Sharon Upchurch presided over the meeting and Canton residents had the opportunity to speak. Several residents did speak and expressed their desire to retain a Canton based police force. Residents who did not want to publicly speak were also given the opportunity to email their comments or submit a statement in writing. Canton residents were also encouraged to attend future meetings.
