WILLIAM (BILL) CASPER

William (Bill) Theodore Casper, 75, of Lewistown, Mo., died August 8, 2023, suddenly in his home. 

He was born in Kirksville, Mo., on December 13, 1947 to Vincent Francis Casper and Annabelle (DeVries) Casper. He was a graduate of Green City High School in Green City, Mo. He served in the United States Navy and was a Vietnam Veteran. He later attended Linn Technical College and graduated with a degree in Automotive Technology. He worked at KCOM in Kirksville, the LaGrange Foundry, Bud’s Automotive in Canton, and Canton Marine Towing, from where he retired after 36 years of service.

Bill married Nancy Lynn Hardwick on May 25, 1972 and together they had three children. After Nancy’s passing, he married Jana Marie (Kuhn Scott) Casper on May 28, 1993 and was blessed when he also gained her three children.

 Bill was an active member of the Cursillo Community from 1984 until his passing. He served as Rector of Cursillo #155. He was also an active member of Queen of Peace Catholic Church in Ewing.

Bill did not know a stranger, was loved by his humor and kind heart and was always ready and willing to help whenever needed. He enjoyed car shows, working on cars, shooting and reloading ammo, camping and trout fishing trips with his family, and spending time with his wife before her passing, children and grandchildren.

Survivors include four sons, Tracy (Jo Ann) Scott of Miller, Mo., Vincent (Amanda) Casper of Cheney, Kan., Joe (Katrina) Casper of Quincy, Ill., Jacob (Kayla) Scott of LaGrange, Mo.; two daughters Angela South of St. Louis, Mo., Kristen (Dave) Goings of Durham, Mo.; Grandchildren: August Jones, Scarlett South of St. Louis; Andrew, Madelyn, and Zachary Scott of Miller Mo.; Oliver, Elizabeth, Theodore, Henry, Adrian, Gregory, Sylvester, and Jeremiah Casper of Cheney, Kan.; Seth (Megan), Cole, William, and Hannah Goings and Patience Rusi of Durham, Mo.; Kennadi, Anabel, Millie and Josephine Casper of Quincy Ill.; Bentley, Lilah, Hunter, and Kelce Scott of LaGrange, Mo.; a cousin Jo Lynn Neely of Green City, Mo.,  numerous sisters-in-law, brothers-in-law, nieces and nephews.

He is preceded in death by his first wife Nancy, second wife Jana, his parents as well as his mothers-in-law and fathers-in-law.

There will be a rosary service on Saturday, August 19, 2023 at 12:00pm at Queen of Peace Catholic Church in Ewing, Mo., with Mass to follow at 1:00 pm with Father Callistus Okoroji officiating.

Inurnment with full military honors will follow at Memorial Cemetery in La Grange, Mo. There will be a Celebration of Life at the Caldwell Building in Canton Mo., from 4-11p.m. Everyone is welcome to come celebrate this life well lived.

The family suggests memorials be made to Heartland Resources or Quincy Cursillo.
