Jackson County Dreamers Advance to State Championship Special Olympic Games

Kerry Alan Williams of Lee’s Summit, formerly of Canton, Mo., is headed to the State Championship Special Olympic Games October 13-15 in Jefferson City.  Kerry plays for the Jackson County Dreamers, an adult t-ball softball team.  The Dreamers won their Division tournament in St Joseph July 8, and advanced to State by winning a tiebreaker game at Regionals in Springfield August 5 against the Lee’s Summit Lightning.

After a 30-minute delay due to actual lightning, the Dreamers and Lightning drew to a 10-10 tie in a down pouring rainstorm.  A tiebreaker match was set for the afternoon, and the Dreamers awoke and won 20-7.

Kerry is a 1995 graduate and former 20-year employee of Canton High School.
