Kelly Vaughn Murphy, 61, of Hannibal, Mo., formerly of LaGrange, Mo., died July 30, 2023 at Hannibal Regional Hospital in Hannibal, Mo.

Kelly was born in Quincy, Ill., on September 13, 1961 a son of Elizabeth Jean (Vaughn) Murphy Waganer and Delbert Glen Murphy. He spent his childhood in LaGrange, Mo., spending every summer working and playing at Wakonda State Park. He attended both Palmyra and Highland High Schools. He obtained his general education diploma and attended Vatterott College where he became licensed in heating, cooling, and refrigeration. He moved to Woodward, Oklahoma where he worked for Triad Drilling Company from 1980 to 1988, and married Teresa Wederski in November 1982, with whom he had four children.

He returned to LaGrange where he worked maintenance at LaGrange Senior Housing and operated Murphy Construction and Roofing. He later moved to Hannibal, where he worked for Levering Heath Care Systems and married Kathy Fugate on June 26, 2011, and gained three stepchildren. He resided in Hannibal until his death. Kelly was a lifelong fan of Cardinals baseball and Mizzou football, he enjoyed mushroom hunting, fishing, camping, and being outdoors, and was a world traveler who enjoyed frequent cruises and trips to Florida with his wife, mother, siblings, and children.

He is survived by his wife, Kathy L. Murphy of Hannibal; children, Kelly Murphy of Hannibal, Tanya (Keith) Hehr of Fort Madison, Ia., Glen (Desiree) Murphy of Pembroke, Ky., and Ami (Luke) Null of Belleville, Ill.; stepchildren Dedra Hallows of Hannibal and Jeffrey (Marcy) Hallows of Hannibal; siblings Cathy (Randy) Beelman of Palm Beach Gardens, Fla., Michael Murphy of Springfield, Mo., and Roxie Harsell of Quincy, Ill.; grandchildren Aiden, Aubree, Caleb, Kristen, Ariana, Mackenzie, Lillian, Autumn, Wyatt, Alexis, Zoey, and Elijah; and many nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents; older brother, Glenn Murphy; nephew, David Harsell II; step-father Randy Waganer and his lifelong best friend, Kevin Guilfoyle

Memorial services will be held Saturday, August 5, 2023 at 10:00 a.m. at the Davis Funeral Home in La Grange with Pastor Barry Pfister officiating.
Visitation will be held Saturday morning, Aug. 5, from 9:00 a.m. until time of services in the funeral home. Honorary pallbearers: Loren Farr, Curtis Farr, Lee Murphy, Ed Cox, James Shepherd, and the late Kevin Guilfoyle.

Music: How Great Thou Art and Amazing Grace.

The family suggests memorials be made to the James Cary Cancer Center in Hannibal in care of Davis Funeral Home, LaGrange, Mo.
