ROGER JOB

June 15, 2023

Roger Lloyd Job went to be with the Lord after 83 blessed years. He passed away peacefully in his home in the early evening hours of June 2, 2023 after a short illness.

Roger was born January 30, 1940 in Monticello, Missouri to Lloyd Leo Job and Roberta Bertha (White) Job. Roger was the second of three children. He attended a one room schoolhouse in Dover until the sixth grade and finished his education in La Grange, Missouri.

After graduating high school in La Grange in 1958, Roger enlisted in the Army and was stationed at Fire Island Air Force Station in Anchorage, Alaska for most of his military service. Roger served three years as a radar repairman in the Signal Corps. Shortly after being discharged from the military in 1961, Roger moved back to the family farm in Dover, Missouri. Roger was hired as a fabricator with Harris Broadcasting in 1964 where he spent the next 42 years until his retirement in 2006.

Roger married Linda Kay Branham on March 22, 1969. Roger and Linda had two children, Shelby Dale Job and Pamela Gail (Job) Robinson and were later blessed with two additional children Eric Wayne Branham and Anne Nicole (Branham) Smith. While on the farm, Roger enjoyed working with his cattle, tending his garden and lawn, and tinkering with different projects. He was also an accomplished carpenter, where he gave life and sustenance to all of Linda’s projects no matter how difficult or complex they seemed at the time. Whether it was something decorative such as a barn wood picture frame or something more functional like stairs for a house or a rocking crib for the grandbabies, every project was filled with his love and care that can be seen for generations to come. The last of these projects he completed was a planter box for Linda’s springtime flowers.

Roger and Linda shared a beautiful life together on the family farm for decades until they started a new adventure in 2014 where they traveled the county in an RV until ultimately settling in Texas. Roger spent the past 9 years building a home at the VIP community in La Feria, Texas. Roger enjoyed coffee club mornings, games at the clubhouse, and golf cart strolls with Kirby, his faithful canine companion.

Roger was preceded in death by his parents Lloyd and Roberta Job.

Roger is survived by his loving wife, Linda Kay (Branham) Job; four children, Shelby Dale Job, Pamela Gail (Job) Robinson, Eric Wayne Branham, and Anne Nicole (Branham) Smith; two sisters, Marjorie Sue (Job) Sherman and Wanda Kay (Job) Zieger. Other surviving family members include several grandchildren, great-grandchildren, and a number of nieces and nephews.

Roger will be remembered for his love of his family, his devotion to his church and community, and his faithfulness in Christ. Roger was a dutiful member of Dover Baptist Church in, Missouri where he was a deacon until his passing. While in Texas, Roger attended the First Baptist Church of La Feria, Texas. Over the years, Roger was part of the Missouri Baptist Relief Crew which delivered aid and assistance to areas affected by natural disasters, served on the Lewis County Nursing Home Board for 10 years, and volunteered at the First Baptist Church of La Feria food pantry.

Roger’s love for his family was apparent to all that knew him. He was a dedicated husband, father, grandpa, and great-grandpa, but the cornerstone of the family was his love for his wife, Linda. The two of them had a love bound by God and although they are apart he will be waiting for Linda on the other side of the golden gates until they are reunited once again. She was the love of his life and he asked for her kisses until the very end.

Due to the ties Roger has in both Missouri and Texas, the follow services have been planned: A memorial service was held June 9, 2023 at the First Baptist Church of La Feria, Texas.

In lieu of flowers, memorial donations can be made to the First Baptist Church of La Feria Food Pantry.
