FRANCES LUELLA KRAMER

June 07, 2023

Frances Luella Kramer, 86, of Palmyra, Mo., died May 30, 2023 holding hands with her husband Dick, as was normal. She is at peace and with the Lord after many years of health issues.

Luella, as she was known to everyone, was born September 24, 1936 in LaHarpe, Ill., to Floyd and Ellen Bowen Bennett. She was a member of LaHarpe Christian Church and was a 1954 graduate of LaHarpe High School. She attended and graduated from Quincy Beauty Academy in 1955 and pursued that trade until 1963, at which time she worked at Broadway National Bank until 1967.

Luella married Richard Kramer March 12, 1965 at Madison Park Christian Church in Quincy, Ill. In 1971, they moved to Hull, Ill., and their son, Curtis, was born in September of that year. Dick and Luella became members of Fifth Street Baptist Church in Hannibal, Mo., and were active in various roles at the church. Luella kept very busy with gardening, yard work, assisting with things around the farm, and the meticulous job she did caring for the family home. She was very faithful in attending Curtis’ school and extracurricular activities and spent a great deal of time assisting her in-laws in their later years. Dick and Luella moved to Palmyra, Mo., in 1993. Luella developed many long-term health issues shortly after, which limited her ability to get out and about as much. She still remained active in helping with household tasks as long as she could and took great enjoyment in the elaborate cross-stitch pictures she made and collecting glass ware including Depression Glass and stone crockery. She really enjoyed the beautiful yard and flower gardens that Dick kept at their home. She was a devout Christian and spent many hours in prayer and devotion with the Lord.

Luella is survived by her husband of 58 years, Richard (Dick) Kramer of Palmyra; their son, Curtis and his wife, Tammy, who became like her own daughter of Palmyra; a grandson, Garrett Kramer of Ozark, Mo.; three sisters, Martha Reed, Lois Collins, and Jean Cutforth, and several nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents, three infant siblings and her three brothers in law.

The family would like to extend their gratitude to the many who have provided support and assistance over the years and especially Dr. Greg Flaker M.D. of Cardiology & Electrophysiology at the University Hospital in Columbia, Mo., who employed such advanced and appropriate medical care to her for the past nearly 30 years. We would also like to extend special thanks to Dana, Michelle, and Rachel with Community Loving Care Hospice for the attentive care and comfort they provided the last few weeks.
