Paddlers Attempt Record

A group of four people in a canoe and their safety crew boats stopped at the LaGrange riverfront recently for a short break before resuming their adventure of trying to beat the world record of fastest paddling time in a canoe on the Mississippi River. Scott Mansker of Kansas City (pictured) is the main race director also the founder of the annual MR340 Kayak race between Kansas City and St. Louis. Masker said he used to visit LaGrange as a child to visit his great grandparents Clarette (Wolfmeyer) and Fred (Fritz) Bauer.
