Canton Public Library Welcomes May's Guest Artist Nancy Ellison

April 26, 2023

The Canton Public Library welcomes Canton artist Nancy Ellison as May’s Guest Artist. All are invited to meet Nancy at an opening reception on Thursday, May 4th from 5:30 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. at the Canton Public Library. The event is hosted by the Canton Fine Arts Council. Refreshments will be served.
Nancy attended Hannibal-LaGrange College as well as Northeast Missouri State University (now Truman State University) in Kirksville. She is a former art instructor at the Lewis County C-1 schools where she taught for many years.

Nancy’s creations frequently utilize both recycled materials and natural materials. She does collage work with recycled paper, handmade paper, pressed flowers, tea bags, yarn, film negatives and old photos. She works with fabrics, leaves, pen and ink, as well as paints with watercolors and other mixed media. When asked what motivates her to create art, she said she enjoys creating something new, experimenting with whatever materials she has around her.
Nancy’s artwork will be on display at the library throughout the month of May. The public is invited to stop by the library and view her artwork during regular business hours.

The library is located at 403 Lewis St. in Canton, MO and is open Tuesday through Friday 9 AM - 6 PM and Saturday 10 AM - 2 PM. Visit the library at www.cantonmopubliclibrary.org, on Facebook at Your Canton Public Library, or call 573-288-5279.
