SAMUEL FRANKLIN BROWN

Samuel Franklin Brown, Jr., 76 of rural Lewistown, Missouri a loving husband and father of two passed away February 10, 2023 at the University Hospital in Columbia, Missouri from complications arising from a stroke.
Born to Sam and Florence Griesbaum Brown on October 14, 1946 at Quincy, Illinois, Frank grew up on a farm two miles northwest of Ewing, Mo. He attended Ewing High School and graduated from Northeast Missouri State Teachers College in Kirksville with a bachelor’s degree. A Vietnam veteran serving in the U.S. Navy, Frank became a rural mail carrier and farmer. On February 2, 1974 at Ewing, Missouri he married Marie (née Boudreau), and they were together for nearly fifty years.

Frank was an avid woodworker and an enthusiast of the Old West. He loved animals. He was active in the Queen of Peace Catholic Church, and a proud member of the Knights of Columbus.

He is survived by his wife Marie, his son Jim, his son Tim, his daughter-in-law Kristin, and grandchildren Rebecca and Flynn. He was preceded in death by his parents.

A Memorial Mass will be held Thursday, February 16, 2023 at 11:00 AM at Queen of Peace Catholic Church in Ewing, Missouri led by Father Callistus Okoroji.

Military Honors will be presented by Lewis County Memorial Post 578. Visitation will be held Thursday morning from 10 AM until the time of services at Queen of Peace Catholic Church. Inurnment will be in the Steffenville Cemetery at a later date.

Honorary Pallbearers: Ron Dietrick, Mark Lueckenhoff, Dan Schmidtz, Morris Messmer, Steve McKenzie, Jeff Henderson and Sandy Nichols.
