Library Welcome Author Janice Weiland

December 08, 2022

The Canton Public Library welcomes local author Janice Weiland on Saturday, December 10 at 10:00 a.m. for a reading of her children’s book, “The Chipmunk in the Christmas Tree.” Following the reading and a time for discussion, children are welcome to stay for a related craft project.
Charmingly illustrated by Kira Houghton and Jamie Sowell, “The Chipmunk in the Christmas Tree” is Janice’s first book. Janice said the story came to her all at once, one winter morning at 2:00 a.m. “I woke up and I had the complete story in my head,” she says. “I tried to go back to sleep, but I just couldn’t, so I got up and put it all down on paper.” Three months later, she found her illustrators. While running errands for work, she entered a printing shop and asked if they knew of a good graphic artist. There, she met Kira and Jamie, who brought her book to life.

“It’s so exciting to put a smile on a child’s face,” Janice said. “That’s what I love about writing, and what I love about this book. I just want to share it with children and their families.”
Books will be available for purchase and are also available on Amazon.
