Lewis County Completes Two New Bridges
Two new bridges in Lewis County were recently completed one near Williamstown and the other near Lewistown
Presiding Commissioner Wayne (Fid) Murphy, Jr., Northern Commissioner, Deanne Whiston, and Southern Commissioner Travis Fleer, would like to announce the Lewis County bridge crew has recently completed two new concrete bridges. The first is located on County Road #433 (200th Avenue) near Williamstown. The new bridge is 40 feet long and 24 feet wide. It replaces a culvert that during major rain events was not able to handle the volume of water, in turn causing major road damage.
The second new bridge is located on County Road #305 (Granite Avenue) near Lewistown. The bridge is 34 feet long and 24 feet wide. This bridge also replaces a culvert that had the same issues. Several years ago both bridge sites had bridges that needed extensive repairs but both were replaced with culverts due to money restraints, in the past. The Commission feels that changing back to bridges will save Lewis County money long term. The money saved can be better used for future road improvements within the County. Those working to help build the bridges were Supervisor Bill Rash, Gerald Smith, Larry Janes, Billy Joe Rash, Andy Michel, Jerry Patterson, Roy Hetzler, and Robert Dodd.
