Eccles is Guest Artist - Nov. 3

The Canton Public Library presents the “Eccles Eclectic Exhibit” featuring local artist Sandy Eccles as Guest Artist for the month of November. All are invited to meet Sandy at an opening reception on Thursday, November 3rd from 5:30 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. at the Canton Public Library, with a Gallery Talk at 6:30. The event is hosted by the Canton Fine Arts Council. Refreshments will be served.
Sandy received her Bachelor of Science in Education K-12 in Art from Truman State University and completed further graduate studies there, as well as the Maria Martinez Workshop in Idyllwild, California.
Sandy paints indoors and outdoors, completing various commissioned murals and mosaics in Memphis, Canton, Kirksville, Jefferson City and Columbia in Missouri, as well as a private residence in Van Alstyne, TX.
Sandy enjoys an eclectic approach to art and works with various mediums including cardstock, wall murals, framed canvas, acrylic panels, oils, glass mosaics, textiles, painted furniture, wood fences, mixed media, and even fish made from driftwood.
Sandy’s work in school settings allowed her to do portrait sketching as well as public art demonstrations in both Pueblo, Colorado and Pawnee, Oklahoma.
Professionally, Sandy has led art workshops at UMSL, the Quincy Art Center, Burpee Natural History Museum in Rockford, Illinois and she has done demonstrations and replications at Fort Hays in Rapid City, South Dakota. She has also worked in therapeutic settings with juvenile offenders using hands-on pottery processes at Inner Harbour, Rockmart, GA.
Sandy has exhibited at numerous sites including The Giving Tree Gallery in Cape Cod, Massachusetts and Bluestem Gallery in Columbia, Missouri.
Sandy’s artwork will be on display at the library throughout the month of November.
