NANCY JEAN CURTIS WILSON

Nancy Jean Curtis Wilson, 91 years of age of Canton, Mo. passed away Tuesday, October 18, 2022 at Lewis County Nursing Home in Canton. She was surrounded by family and friends.

Nancy was born June 15, 1931 in Ft. Madison, Iowa, daughter of Claude and Maria Brown Curtis.

Nancy attended Ft. Madison High School, graduating early at the age of 16. She went to work at the telephone office and loved her job as a switchboard operator. She met Verlin Wilson through a friend at the telephone office, and they were married on September 16, 1950 at Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Ft. Madison. Nancy later became the secretary of St. Joseph’s Catholic Church, retiring after 40 years of service. She also proudly served on the St. Ann’s Altar Sodality at St. Joseph’s Church.

Verlin and Nancy had three daughters; Kathy (Marty) Danley of Bloomfield, Iowa; Claudia (Andy) Morrow of West Hartford, Connecticut; Wendy (Doug) Wilson of Canton, Missouri; and three sons; Samuel (Judy) Wilson of Donnellson, Iowa; Curt (Harla) Wilson of Maywood, Missouri; Mitch (Valerie) Wilson of Kansas City, Missouri. Nancy was the proud Grandma of Alisha and Aaron Loy, Mark and Tiffany Danley, Charity and Stephen Hall, Jason and Sara Wilson, Kristopher Moore, Daniel and Heather Moore, Mikeal and Nichole Bean, Keri and Rob Wetzel, Caleb Morrow, Zoe Morrow, Carly Wilson and Skye Blake, Lindsey Wilson and James Yarrington. Nancy was the proud Great Grandma of Rowdy and Samantha Loy, Merrik, Myron, Marshall, and Maxen Danley, Luke and Marc Hall, Addison and Charlotte Wilson, Colby and Kay, Mia, and Layna Moore, Kyle Wilker, Lailah and Bella Bean, and Liam and Theo Wetzel. Nancy also was a proud Great-Great Grandma of Winter Moore. Nancy has one sister, Penny Creech of Butte, Montana; and many beloved nieces and nephews.

Nancy was preceded in death by her husband, Verlin; parents, Claude and Maria Curtis; sister and brother-in-law, Gwen and Jim Mansheim; Clifford and Lois Wilson; Mildred and Vernon Howard; great grandson, Tripp Loy; and great-grandsons Jackson and Weston Wetzel.

Funeral services were held October 24, 2022 at St. Joseph’s Catholic Church in Canton, Missouri. Fr. Callistus Okoroji officiating.  Pallbearers: Samuel Wilson, Curt Wilson, Mitch Wilson, Marty Danley, Doug Wilson, Jason Wilson, Mark Danley, and Aaron Loy.

Visitation was held October 23, 2022 at the Davis Funeral Home in Canton, Missouri.

Interment will be at Montrose Cemetery in Montrose, Iowa.
