MILDRED “JO” JOSEPHINE BROWN

Mrs. Mildred “Jo” Josephine Brown, age 100, of Ewing, MO formerly of Canton, MO, died, July 16, 2022 in the Lewis County Nursing Home in Canton.

She was born September 26, 1921 in Canton a daughter of Tom and Edna Goodwin Gruber. She married Willie Harold Brown on February 22, 1943 in Tempe, AZ. He passed away July 31, 2009.

She was a member of the Centenary United Methodist Church near Canton. She and her husband operated a trucking business in Canton for over 30 years retiring in 1975. She enjoyed spending time with her grandchildren and tending to her garden and flowers and wintering in Texas in earlier years.

Survivors include her daughter, Donnette (Dennis) Carter of Ewing; four grandchildren, Ryan (Melodie) Carter of Ewing, Rustyn (Brooke Johnson) Carter of Ewing, Abbie Carter of Ewing, Alex Carter of Ewing; 9 great grandchildren and several nieces.

She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, two sisters, Margaret Risk and Zilpha (Zip) Shatzer, one brother Bob Gruber and several nephews.

Graveside services and burial were held July 19, 2022. at Forest Grove Cemetery in Canton with Rev. Carolyn Leaver. Visitation was held preceding services on July 19, 2022 at the Davis Funeral Home in Canton. Pallbearers: Ryan Carter, Rustyn Carter, Abbie Carter and Alex Carter.
