WILLIAM FRANKLIN COMBS

William Franklin Combs, 75, of Willow Care Center in Hannibal, Mo., passed away peacefully, Sunday, July 10th at 8:10 PM at Hannibal Regional Hospital surrounded by his loving family.
Bill was born October 9, 1946 in Thomasville, Mo, a son of Cap and Chloe Boley Combs. He married Cathy L. Platz on March 8, 1975 in La Grange, Mo., she survives. Two children were born of that union.
Bill worked at the Dura Automotive systems plant in Hannibal until the plant closed. Before that, Bill was employed by Gardner-Denver Industries in LaGrange, Mo., for 10 years. Bill was a very hard and conscientious worker. He was of the Chritian faith & a member of the La Grange Christian Church.
Bill was a very kind and compassionate father. He was a family man. Bill loved to shoot pool, play cards, & dance, especially to country music or music he could clog or jig dance to. He was a country boy at heart and his favorite line was, “Don’t use $500 words on me because I only have a 10 cent vocabulary!” He loved being around people and once you were close to him, he always considered you his family. He had many that affectionately called & looked upon him as their Pawpaw Bill. He considered them his to the end. He loved kids, and family and held them all close to his heart.
Survivors include his son, Colby S. Combs, of La Grange, Mo., his daughter, Courtni M Saxbury, of Quincy, Ill., 4 grandchildren, Rylee W. Hinkamper, Peyton C. Clark, Eli J. Clark, and Kloey M. Saxbury, all of Quincy; brother, Tom Combs of Toledo, Ohio, & sister, Betty (Billy) Emery of Milford, DE, several nieces & nephews and great nieces & nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents, his brothers, Jim Combs, Troy Combs, & Charlie Combs, & one nephew, Danny Emery.
Visitation will be held Sunday, July 17, 2022 from 3:00-5:00 p.m. at the Davis Funeral Chapel in La Grange, MO. with funeral services at 5:00 p.m. with Rev. Marshal Conklin officiating. Cremation rites will be accorded and a private burial will be at a later date.
The family suggests memorials be made out to Courtni Saxbury to help defray the cost of funeral services.
Honorary Pallbearers will be: Matt Swearingen, Darrel Harrison, Chad Combs, Jeff Harrison, Joni Mosby, Jessica Will, Trilby (Brooke) Murfin, Chandler Platz, McKenzie Shrader, Roger Platz, Tracy Platz and all of the beloved great nieces and nephews.
