St. Patrick July 3rd Events

June 29, 2022

The Shrine of St. Patrick will be hosting a Quilt Show at their Family Picnic event to be held on July 3 from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. There will be a chicken dinner served, kid’s games and the popular greased pig contest.

The Shrine of St. Patrick Family Picnic has always been known for honoring quilting as the Daughters of Isabella would raise money by having a Quilt Raffle.  The Quilts were made by Wilma Boudreau, who started quilting once she retired, and became a master of the craft with her beautiful quilts.   The show will include several of her quilts that was done over the years. Also planned to display is a quilt that has over 100 signatures of famous baseball players from the 1970s-80s. Autographs include Pete Rose, Tommy Lasorda and George Brett, Johnny Bench and many more.

Another highlight for the Show will be to have participation with the Missouri Quilt Museum of Hamilton, Mo.  The Museum is in the process of renovating the original Hamilton High School built in 1921, with plans to make it the largest Quilt Museum in the United States, hosting quilting exhibits from local artists as well as top designers from around the world.  Bob Hughes, a St. Patrick native, and his wife Courtney, from the Museum will be on hand to answer any questions on quilting that you might have.  They are also brining 10 of the Museum’s award winning quilts for the display.

Anyone with a family heirloom or a newly quilted piece, they would love to have you display your quilt.  You will not find a more beautiful backdrop for the display than the Shrine of St. Patrick, and its beautiful stained-glass windows.
