Durham Fish Fry and Carnival

The Durham Annual Fish Fry and Carnival will be held June 25 at the Durham Community Center. This is the 59th year for the annual event. The fish fry begins at 5 p.m. with a catfish dinner served with French fries, baked beans, roll, mac and cheese, dessert and drink. Catfish fillets with dessert and drink only will also be offered as well as a child’s dinner bag with hot dog, chips, fruit snack and juice. Food concessions including sloppy Joes, nachos, hot dogs and other items will be served in the afternoon from 1 to 5 p.m.

Other activities include a car show from 3 to 6 p.m. Check in and register from 1 to 2:30 p.m. Bounce house, games, silent auction, raffles, country store and other activities planned. The volunteers and community members have made several improvements to the ball park and community center. The bleachers, concession stand, restrooms, and equipment barn have all been repainted and reroofed.   The event building has a new roof and insulated the roof as well. A new addition includes the small covered-seating area near the playground in memory of Robert Wikowsky-memorial donations in his name made this possible.  The walking path had a a nice spring-cleaning including tree trimming, replacing trees where needed, and new gravel on the path.

The 2022 High School Senior recognition dinner Annual Meeting was held May 18.   The group re-elected Ron Cheney as President, Becky Johnson as Vice President, added new board members – Kevin Baker and Brian Miller, joining current board members of Ted Reichert, Elaine Rathbun, Becky Johnson, and Ron Cheney.  Midyear last year, a new secretary joined the organization, Sue Whitaker.  She will continue this year as secretary.  Current treasurer is Mary Johnson.

Everyone invited to bring a lawn chair and enjoy the afternoon and the fish fry at Durham.
