Juneteenth Celebration

The second annual Juneteenth Celebration was held in Canton the weekend of June 17-18 and many people attended the event. A free movie, Black Panther, was shown at the Lewis Street Playhouse on June 17 and will be offered again on June 24 at 6:30 p.m. Juneteenth events in Martin Park included Prayer and Freedom Walk with a balloon release, bus rides to locations of former African American Schools in Canton, vendors and fellowship. The story of Juneteenth was featured at the restored Lincoln School and storytelling in the afternoon was interesting and informative.
